This year’s Global Media and Information Literacy Week will be celebrated worldwide from 24-31 October 2024, culminating in a global conference hosted by UNESCO and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Amman, Jordan
on 30-31 October.
Under the theme “The New Digital Frontiers of Information: Media and Information Literacy for Public Interest Information,” the event will bring together stakeholders around the globe to explore paths for strengthening collaboration and innovation to power Media and Information Literacy in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2024 will address the transformative impact of emerging technologies such as Generative Artificial Intelligence and the new generation of digital content creators on the production and dissemination of public-interest information, highlighting both opportunities and risks. It will underline the need to empower users with tailored skills to identify, assess and engage with public-interest information online.
Commemorated annually since 2011, Global Media and Information Literacy Week (24-31 October) mobilizes worldwide stakeholders to raise awareness, increase national take-up and celebrate progress towards achieving Media and Information Literacy for All.
